Description

Football and the First World War is a non-profit charity organisation working in partnership with the National Football Museum and the Imperial War Museum’s First World War Centenary Programme to preserve the history of association football during World War One. Through our national curriculum-based educational resources and community-led group initiatives, we provide support and guidance that enables young people and volunteers to engage with their community and gain essential vocational skills. In addition to our educational work, Football and the First World War is also working with students, researchers and citizen historians throughout the United Kingdom to build a comprehensive record of football during World War One. This work has already seen us create a substantial online database of footballers who served during the war and also a previously-unpublished list of players who were killed during the conflict. The Football and the First World War website is run on a non-profit basis and is free to access.
